Engine Oil SystemsOil System CleaningQ: Is it safe to put your Engine Clean, which I assume has detergents in it, into the engine oil?
A: Oil System Cleaning is a common annual preventive maintenance practice in other parts of the world. As our oil change intervals are extended here, we should follow this practice to eliminate the buildup of contamination. However, unlike some other products on the market, the Engine Clean is engineered not only to dissolve and clean the inside of the engine but it also lubricates effectively while it is working. This is a key element to a safe oil system cleaner. Air Conditioning SystemsQ: Is there a certain time of year I should use the Klima Fresh product?
A: There's not really any specific time of year that's best for using Klima Fresh, but using at six month intervals will maintain a healthier air conditioning for you and your passengers. Most customers like to use Klima Fresh in conjunction with any cabin air filter change. This makes sense as the product is not having to fight though a clogged up filthy filter as it cleans the rest of your ventilation system. However, folks who suffer from seasonal allergies report that Klima Fresh used in a late winter/early Spring (early-mid March) helps to "detox" the interior air - disinfecting and getting rid of the bacteria which built up during the wet winter months as well as the blooming flower and tree pollen. A second application in early-mid September provides the same defense against the Autumn allergens such as grasses and rag weed and disinfects the air filtration system after prolonged use in hot summer months. This early Spring/late Summer schedule helps reduce watery, itchy eyes, soar throats and nagging coughs. |
Fuel SystemsFuel System CleaningQ: How often should I use the Diesel System Super Clean?
A: Fuel quality can vary for many reasons and drivers may see differing levels and quicker contamination by location and also by vehicle type. Your driving style and the distances you drive can also have different effects. Unless you inadvertently fill up with some particularly nasty diesel, then using DSSC every 4 to 6 months should keep you on top of any contamination. Moisture is also a problem in diesel engine vehicles. Water bubbles getting through to the fuel injectors can badly damage these highly-engineered and sensitive injectors. A quick cost-comparison is a great way to see for yourself just how important it is to use DSSC: Find out how much it costs to replace your one of your vehicle's injectors (usually somewhere between $200-$600 for parts and labor) and compare that to the costs of 2-3 cans of DSSC ($40-$60). Remember, with today's highly-engineered vehicles and extended oil change intervals, your car may not be seen by a technician for a whole year. There's very little doubt that contaminants are building up during that time causing your vehicle to under-perform on fuel economy and emissions. Q: Do I really need to use OXICAT once every 4 months? That seems a little often. A: The idea is to reduce emissions by minimizing contamination. Here's where car care gets really personal - you need to decide if preventive maintenance is worth a regular investment versus repair or replacement with new oxygen sensor(s) or new catalytic convertor(s) or turbo-charger. Look at it this way, in a typical year you could spend $20 and 15 minutes at Spring Break, July 4th and Thanksgiving (that's 45 minutes and $60) to keep your vehicle in top shape OR you could spend about $200 and at least a whole day with your car in the shop having the oxygen sensor replaced. If your vehicle is already performing optimally, then you may be able to get the same benefit using OXICAT only once every six months, reducing your annual investment to just $40 and 30 minutes. Q: Having just discovered your OXICAT product, is it too late to use if my car is showing a O2 sensor / cat code? A: If the code truly relates to contamination and has only triggered recently then there is a good chance that you will be able to clean up the contamination. We had customers reporting success and saving on sensor replacement. Some customers had failed emissions inspections then one day later after administering OXICAT into the fuel system - the car passed inspection. Customers reporting back are achieving 90%+ success with the “fix” application. |
